Every year my mom and I have a tradition of celebrating Mother’s Day at a new afternoon tea place we haven’t tried before. This year, I was researching online for a new place for us to try and stumbled upon the afternoon tea service at the Disneyland Hotel. So I booked a reservation for two a weekend before the actual date since I’ll be coming home from Vegas on the actual date.

The afternoon tea takes place at the Steakhouse 55 restaurant inside the hotel. They have tea service on Friday, Saturday and Sunday’s from noon to 3pm. Three different tea options are available which are Classic, Premium and Kids. My mom and I chose the classic afternoon tea which consisted of traditional scones, tea sandwiches and an assortment of desserts with a pot of hot tea (for $50/per person).

I was really amazed by their selection of teas I got to choose from. My mom chose the Perfect Afternoon which was a blend of Assam, Darjeeling and Ceylon. I picked the Darjeeling Oolong which was an Epicurean blend of Indian Champagne Darjeeling and floral China Oolong. I really enjoyed my tea because I am a fan of Darjeeling and Oolong so it was a perfect blend. My mom’s tea was delicious as well and it went well with milk and sugar. I was very happy that they served the tea hot (you’d be surprised how so many places don’t serve their tea piping hot!) and if it gets cold they are quick to make you a new pot.

The food was delicious as well, I think the most unique was their seasonal strawberry and almond scone and the smoked salmon sandwich that was made with mini pancakes. My favorites were the raspberry tart, meringue lemon tart and the scones which were served with fresh lemon curd, Devonshire cream and raspberry jam. Our server was really sweet and attentive which made our afternoon tea experience pleasant.

I think my only complaint was the fact that the ambiance was mediocre. I understand that I was at Disneyland and noisy kids sort of come with the territory but we were seated next to a very loud family of 6 with little kids so you know where I’m going with my complaint right? Also, I was also a little surprised by how casual everyone was dressed. I guess I’m used to dressing up a little when I go to afternoon tea and haven’t been to a tea place where everyone was dressed in jeans and t-shirt.

Overall, I would recommend this afternoon tea experience because the food, tea and service was good. It also came with free valet parking for 3 hours which was a definite plus! However, if you are looking for a nice ambiance then maybe this place might not be for you.

Also, I am loving this beautiful butterfly print dress that Krisp Clothing sent me to wear for this special day. So a huge thank you to them! How are you all spending your Mother’s Day this year? Let me know if you have any special plans this coming weekend.

Until next time!
